Joint Statement of the China-Us Economic and Trade Talks in Geneva

      At 3 p.m. on May 12th, the "Joint Statement on the Geneva Economic and Trade Talks between China and the United States" was released. Both sides agreed to cancel 91% of tariffs and suspend 24% of tariffs by May 14th, with a cumulative reduction of 115%.

      This is a result of the China-Us tariff negotiations that far exceeded everyone's expectations. It is also the most significant breakthrough in resolving tensions and conducting negotiations globally since the United States launched the tariff war in 2025. It reflects the sense of responsibility of the decision-making levels of both China and the United States to reverse the further deterioration of the global political, economic and trade situation before the worst-case scenario occurs. It also means that after the gloom of the Trump 2.0 tariff war, a rare ray of sunshine has emerged, reigniting the world's hope for the continuous advancement of globalization.
